A strong, coherent curriculum is an essential element of a successful education. Our role as a primary school is to ensure every student has the strongest foundations possible. These foundations enable new knowledge to be acquired and retained more easily, empowering every child to thrive as they progress through their educational journey.
This begins with the Early Learning Goals in Pre Kindy, Kindy, and Reception. These early years are critical for nurturing curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning while building the knowledge, skills, and vocabulary that underpin all future learning. From there, students transition seamlessly into our Primary Curriculum, spanning Year 1 to Year 6, where these foundations are deepened and expanded upon.
Our curriculum is rich in knowledge, skills, and vocabulary, carefully sequenced and mapped to ensure students make meaningful connections between concepts and subjects. This thoughtful approach helps students deepen their understanding and develop a more integrated perspective. Flexibility is central to our curriculum, allowing us to respond to the unique needs of our students while maintaining a commitment to inclusivity and ensuring every child has the opportunity to excel.
To further strengthen the partnership between school and home, we have provided detailed curriculum overviews for each year group. These overviews offer a clear understanding of what your child is learning in school, allowing you to engage meaningfully in their educational journey, support their progress at home, and celebrate their achievements. Parents can access these overviews using the links below, as well as through the Primary Newsfeed and the Useful Links 🔗 section pinned to the top of each Seesaw journal.
By combining a structured and adaptable curriculum with the latest educational research and a clear focus on what works, we ensure that every child builds strong foundations for future learning. Together, we can help your child grow academically, personally, and socially, empowering them to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
We are delighted to share that our curriculum overviews now include Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE), reflecting our commitment to developing well-rounded and confident individuals.
PSHE equips students with essential life skills and the knowledge to navigate an ever-changing world. Themes such as Belonging to a Community emphasise the importance of valuing diversity and fostering inclusivity, while Media Literacy and Digital Resilience empower students to critically evaluate online content and stay safe in a digital age. Additionally, Money and Work introduces practical financial awareness and an understanding of different roles within society. By integrating these topics into our curriculum, we aim to prepare students not only academically but also socially and emotionally, ensuring they thrive both now and in the future.
