As we move into the final stages of what has been a remarkably fast-paced and purposeful term 2, the energy across campus remains as vibrant as ever. It is often said that time flies when you are busy, and this term has certainly been a testament to that, it feels like only yesterday we were welcoming everyone back for the start of the calendar year. One more (short) week to go...

The World of Work 🛠️

This week has been particularly special as we celebrated Careers Week across the school. Even in Primary, we believe it is never too early to start thinking about the future and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

To spark curiosity, our staff have been wearing stickers detailing their childhood 'dream jobs' or alternative career paths they once considered. This simple initiative has led to some great conversations. We have seen everything from aspiring astronauts and marine biologists to professional surfers and chefs (Mr Alex). For our youngest learners, this has been a fantastic way to extend their vocabulary and help them understand the diverse roles people play in our global community. It has been fantastic to see students’ eyes light up as they realise their teachers have passions that reach far beyond the classroom walls.

Leadership in Action: Early Years House Games 🔴🔵🟡🟢

Our student leadership programme continues to go from strength to strength. This week, our House Captains have been back in action, leading the next round of House Games specifically for our students in Reception.

Watching our older students guide our youngest learners with such patience and enthusiasm is a clear reminder of why student leadership is a cornerstone of life at ISB. These opportunities allow students to model the values of teamwork, collaboration, and resilience, while giving our Early Years children a sense of belonging within the wider House system. There has been plenty of friendly rivalry, proving once again that some of the most important learning happens through shared experience and play. 👏

Adventure Awaits: The Residential Journey ✈️⛺

Residential trips are an essential part of the educational pathway at ISB, building independence and confidence at every stage. While our Year 5 team is still reminiscing about their jungle expedition to Temburong, other year groups are now preparing for their own adventures. Year 6 are busy making final preparations for their highly anticipated international residential to Indonesia. Year 4 students are getting ready for their Seria sleepover, a vital step in developing their teamwork skills away from home. And Year 3 are preparing for their very first residential experience: the Bandar campus sleepover, which is always a significant milestone for our students. More details coming soon...

Smooth Transitions and Future Pathways 🔗

Behind the scenes, a lot of work is currently taking place between Primary and Secondary staff to ensure smooth transitions for all our students. We are already engaged in detailed early planning to ensure that every child’s pathway into the next academic year is secure, supportive, and tailored to their needs. This collaborative culture ensures that the ISB journey remains a consistent and high-quality experience from the earliest years right through to the end of Year 6 and beyond.
