Frequently Asked Questions...

More questions will be added as we receive them. So far, this is what parents have been asking:

🙋‍♂️ For my child in Early Years, do you have an overview of the curriculum, knowledge and skills?

✅ Yes, we do. We have shared a comprehensive overview of the Early Learning Goals so that parents can see both the Prime and Specific areas of our Early Years curriculum. This information is available here:

🙋 Can you please provide more homework for my child?

✅ We ensure we provide a balanced approach to home learning. Families live extremely busy lives and opportunities for social interactions and play should never be hindered by home learning activities. Daily reading is recommended to children of all ages, whether independent or supported by a parents. The links below also provide detailed overviews of ways to help at home:

🙋‍♂️ Could you provide more detailed benchmarking against curriculum goals?

✅ This Week 9 Parent - Teacher Consultation forms only part of our wider reporting cycle. At this point in the school year, the focus is on how each child has settled into their new year group. The overall objective is to ensure parents have a detailed overview of their child's wellbeing and how they have managed the transition to a new class. This meeting should be seen as part of a larger cycle of assessment and reporting throughout the academic year. As the year progresses, there will be more of a focus on attainment, progress and achievement. A full overview of this reporting cycle is available using the link below:

🙋 Could parents spend a day in school learning alongside their children?

✅ We have Celebration of Learning mornings planned throughout the school year. These are always on a Friday morning and are a great opportunity to join your child in their classroom and have a more 'hands on' experience of the learning journey. The first of these celebrations of learning takes place on Friday 4th November. In addition, we have also planned a series of parent workshops to focus on Maths, Reading, Phonics, Writing, Wellbeing, and Early Learning Goals. More details soon...

🙋‍♂️ Will there be an opportunity to also meet with the PE staff?

✅ Yes. This is planned for later into the school year once more PE rotations have taken place. We will then have a more detailed overview to share with parents in multiple areas of the PE curriculum.

🙋 Is it possible to have longer appointment times?

✅ Unfortunately, with the number of children in each class, 15 minutes per child is all that is possible. Parent - Teacher Consultations take place after a full day of teaching and learning and so it is not possible to further extend the school day for staff. Our booking system is very specific with the start times for appointments but we are aware that these do occasionally overrun. If parents would like follow-up conversations, additional time can be arranged for this by contacting the Primary Office.

🙋‍♂️ Is it possible to post more work to Seesaw?

✅ We are always looking to strike a good balance with work posted to Seesaw. We know parents enjoy having access to their child's learning journey and benefit from the insights into the classroom. Technology such as Seesaw is used as an educational tool and we are conscious for this to not be a distraction. Our aim is that the use of technology supports the learning journey but that learning is not lead by the technology itself. As the school year progresses, children will become more independent and will share more of their learning in Seesaw.

🙋 Is it possible to provide a map of the school prior to Parent Teacher Consultations?

✅ Yes. This is possible. Before the next Parent Teacher Consultations, we will share a map of the campus with parents. This will be particularly useful for the appointments with MFL teachers who are not based in their regular classrooms.
