Sports Day (Part 2)

After such an amazing start to our Year 3 and Year 4 Sports Day this morning, with both year groups completing most of their events, we were incredibly disappointed to be forced to postpone the Year 5 and Year 6 events due to sudden rain and nearby lightning. The students were already limbering up inside (and we could all feel the anticipation rising for the parent race), but safety has to come first. We will run the Year 5 and Year 6 Sports Day events next week; details will follow shortly...

House Games 🔴🔵🟡🟢

Although the weather cut today short, there was absolutely no stopping our new-look House Games. The House Captains, supported superbly by Mrs Florence, were exceptional leaders, guiding students from Year 1 right through to Year 6. It was wonderful to see siblings competing together, younger students looking up to older ones, and plenty of friendly rivalry earlier this week.

The activities themselves were intentionally simple, silly, and full of laughter, because the aim was teamwork, collaboration and shared experience. Students competed using chopsticks to transfer tiny balls into egg trays; crawled like turtles while balancing foam bricks on their backs; worked in trios to transport a ball using only plastic tubing; and raced to build tall cup towers without knocking down their own (or somebody else’s). It was chaotic in the best possible way and left us all smiling. 👏 👏

House Games Results

In Year 1 and Year 2, Green House burst into an early lead, finishing comfortably in first place. Yellow House chased them closely, while Blue and Red House battled right to the end with Blue just nudging ahead.

The momentum shifted in Year 3 and Year 4, where Red House delivered a standout performance to take the win by a single point over Green. Yellow were not far behind, and Blue continued to show excellent teamwork and resilience.

Then came the Year 5 and Year 6 contests, where Green House surged ahead again, finishing only one point above Yellow in what was the tightest competition of the day. Blue secured third place, and Red followed with determination and house pride.

When all points across Years 1 to 6 were combined, a clear picture emerged:

🥇Green House are the overall House Games champions for the Term 1, finishing with an impressive total built on consistency across every phase of the competition. 🥈Yellow House secured a very close and deserved second place, 🥉 Red House took third after their brilliant win in the Y3–4 bracket, and Blue House, though fourth overall, displayed resilience, teamwork and wonderful spirit throughout. 🏆

A huge congratulations to all houses and all students for making this ISB House Games such a memorable success.

Early Years: Your turn is coming...

Pre Kindy, Kindy and Reception, don’t worry you haven’t been forgotten. Your House Games activities will take place in Term 2, and the House Captains already have some very special plans in motion. You’re in for something exciting...

A very special announcement 🤔

Next week will also bring a big announcement from Ms Daisy. She hasn’t revealed the details to me yet, but I have a strong suspicion it may be related to our next whole-school production. What could she possibly have up her sleeve this time? I have a feeling it’s going to be something huge… and something awesome. Maybe that’s a clue? It probably isn't. Or is it? 🎭

Barvember

As November draws to a close, so too does Barvember. A huge well done and thank you to all students who joined in, some truly impressive calculations and problem solving throughout the month. House points from Barvember, the Sports Days and the House Games will all be added to the totals, so expect some shifts heading into Term 2.

No ECAs Next Week

As next week is the final week of term, there will be no Extra Curricular Activities running.

End-of-Term Donation Opportunity

The final week of term is also a great opportunity to sort through clothes your children may have outgrown this term. Some of our Secondary students are running a special Donation Drive for SMARTER Brunei, and contributions are most welcome.

Donation Box Location: Primary Office

Collection Dates: Until Friday, 5th December
