It was our pleasure to share the joy and excitement of International Day 2024 🌏 with you. Today was an incredible celebration of the rich diversity within our ISB community. Our students, staff, and families came together to honour the many cultures that make our school such a vibrant place to learn and grow.
The day began with a spectacular Parade of Nations, where students and families proudly represented their countries, walking together in a colourful display of unity. The parade route was lined with cheers and support, setting the perfect tone for a day filled with celebration. The parade culminated in the ISB community coming together in song, with plenty of flags waved.
The highlight of the day was, without a doubt, the series of performances in the Sports Hall. From breathtaking musical acts to energetic dances and heartfelt solos, our students truly shined. It was inspiring to see them proudly share their cultural heritage through song, dance, and tradition. The entire day was a beautiful showcase of the global citizenship we strive to nurture here at ISB. A special thank you to Ms Amy Gilroy, our compère for the event.
The day of course doesn't just organise itself. There has been a small army working diligently for weeks to ensure that everyone could enjoy the day. From resources, facilities, operations, academic, non-academic staff, sound technicians, the performing arts teams, our auxiliary staff, marketing, finance, security, and so many more. The people you probably didn't see much of today deserve all the credit. 🙏
We also want to thank the ISB community for your support, whether through helping prepare your children for the day, attending the events, hosting a stall, choreographing a performance, or simply cheering from the sidelines. Your involvement made this celebration of diversity all the more special. International Day 2024 was a resounding success, and we are grateful for the continued partnership and support of our amazing parent community. Thank you for helping make this day unforgettable.
Student Leadership 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️
Not all heroes wear capes, and this lot certainly don't. However, our student leadership team have been very busy recently making videos to help promote school rules. The House Captains, Student Council and Lunchtime Rangers have been working with Mr Hick to create funny and informative short films. Did you also spot the guest appearance from a certain Head of Year 5...? 👏 👏 🎬
Fancy joining? Next week, we will begin the process of finding new Student Council members and Lunchtime Rangers. Open to all students in Year 3 to Year 6, more information coming soon in Seesaw.
Weekly Spotlight 🔦
This week, I would like to highlight the work of Ms Riizah, Ms Qamelya, and Ms Amal, the Primary Office team.
Behind every smoothly run school day, there’s a team of superheroes juggling more tasks than a circus performer with a dozen plates. They may not also wear capes, but trust me, they’re the real deal when it comes to keeping the school in check, often before the first bell has rung for the day.
New Seesaw codes? TTRS Login? Misplaced lunchboxes? Lost PE kits? Fret not. Our Primary Office team is a walking, talking lost-and-found service. If your child leaves something behind, they've probably already found it, labeled it, and tucked it safely away, before you even notice it's gone. Whether it’s a concerned parent, a last-minute schedule change, or that important phone call, the Primary Office team handles it all with a calmness rivalling a zen master.
Between them, Ms Riizah and Ms Qamelya know the name (and car registration) of every child in the school, the names of their parents, how long they have been at ISB, their House Colour and most probably their shirt size. Together with Ms Amal, who organises all the Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs), they have it all covered.
The truth is, the Primary Office team is the glue that holds everything together. They keep the wheels turning, the phones ringing, the files filing, and the schedules running like clockwork. Nothing would happen without them. Next time you walk by the office, give them a wave, they’ve probably already saved the day five times before lunch. 👏 👏
Parent Teacher Consultations 👥
We are looking forward to welcoming parents during Week 8, Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th October 2024. Parents with children in Reception to Year 6 can book their appointment in EduLink. Congratulations 🥇
I would also like to highlight the extraordinary achievement of Samuel in Year 6 who won gold 🥇 for Brunei at the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships in the Boys Taijiquan 'C' event. 👏 Well done also to Meagan in Secondary for also winning gold 🥇 for her event at the same championships.
