Head of Primary Message Week 37

🎵 A Week of Musical Magic

This week saw the inaugural Middle Years Music Showcase, an event created to highlight the talents of students across the upper years of Primary and Year 7. 🎤🎻 From start to finish, it was a spectacular celebration of music, with clear progression visible year on year. We are incredibly lucky to have such talented young musicians, and this event gave them the perfect stage to shine.

Hot on its heels was the Reception Concert, where some of our youngest stars took to the big stage. For many, it was their first time performing in front of an audience, and what a confident bunch they were. 🌟 A huge thank you to the staff who made this such a special moment for students and families. And yes, the cute factor was there. Run, run as fast as you can...

🎬 Year 5 Hits the Big Screen

Lights, camera, action. Year 5 have taken creativity to the next level by creating their own film productions, which were showcased in an actual cinema! 🍿🎥 Complete with real trailers, including that iconic white-background advert for everyone's favourite Japanese mega store (you know the one, now stuck in your head again 😅 #IYKYK) – the experience was both fun and unforgettable. How incredible for our students to see their hard work come to life on the silver screen. 👏

🏆 TTRS Champions Crowned

It’s official, our Times Tables Rock Stars competition has ended for the year, and the results are staggering. Knowing your times tables up to 12 × 12 is essential for students in Year 4 and above, and our fastest fingers did not disappoint. ⌨️💨✖️

🥇 Xander (Year 5) took top spot with a blistering average of 0.39 seconds per question, faster than it takes to blink. Fun fact: a sneeze travels at about 160 kph... but Xander might just be faster. 🥈 Esther (Year 5) was a hair’s breadth behind, at 0.40 seconds, and we almost had to break out the thousandths of a second to separate them. 🥉 Tengzhen (Year 5) came in close with 0.43 seconds, also lightning fast.

In fact, all of our Top 60 students were answering in under one second per question, a phenomenal display of speed, accuracy, and commitment. 🚀🧠

Passing the Torch: New House Captains

We are proud to announce that we have officially handed over the student leadership reins to a new set of House Captains. Under the guidance of Ms Florence, our new Head of Student Development, we know they will do an amazing job leading student voice and initiatives in the year ahead.

🔵 Sangang (Blue) – Merna, Trevor, and Khant

🔴 Ingkat (Red) – Leiya, Korbua, and Oliver

🟡 Beruang (Yellow) – Anis, Eva, and Yi Tung

🟢 Penyu (Green) – Yuna, Ethan, and Savvy

Congratulations to all. 🎉💪

🎉 House Challenge Day & Talent Show Extravaganza

This week also saw our final House Challenge Day of the year, and what a way to celebrate. Led by our outgoing House Captains, the event was packed with fun, energy, and laughter. A huge thank you to them for planning and running such a joyful day. School should be fun, and these student leaders have helped make sure it always is. 💫👏

As part of the festivities, we hosted a Talent Show Grand Final, and the stage came alive. 🎭 We had live Rubik’s cube solving while hula hooping (yes, that’s a real thing 🤹‍♂️), a beautiful piano solo, drumming, and two standout performances:

🎻 Louise: winner for her stunning violin solo.

🥁 Marc: winner for his absolutely epic drum solo.

A brilliant end to a brilliant event, well done to all our performers and participants. 👏

🧭 Year 6: Adventures and Transitions

This week was a busy one for Year 6. They had their Experience Days, stepping into the shoes of Secondary students, meeting new teachers, following new routines, and getting a taste of what’s to come. Our comprehensive programme ensures that all students feel confident and prepared for the move to Secondary.

And even more excitement awaits, Year 6 have now set off for their Indonesia residential trip. 🌴✈️ We wish them a week full of adventure, laughter, and memories. No doubt they’ll return with stories galore to share.

🌊 Wet and Wild: Year 1 at the Water Park

Our adventurous Year 1 made a big splash this week with their visit to Jerudong Water Park. It was a day full of fun, laughter, and slippery slides, everything you’d want from a wet and wild adventure. A huge thank you to the parents who supported the trip and helped make the day run so smoothly. The smiles (and soaked shirts) said it all! 😄👕🌊

📊 End of Year Reports: Coming Soon

End of year data reports will be shared with parents next week. These will include valuable insights into your child’s learning and progress. We’ll be sending out more information soon in Seesaw.

As always, thank you for your continued support and encouragement. What a week it’s been, and there’s more still to come.
