Congratulations to our wonderful House Captains who, together with Mr Trent, planned and hosted a series of house competitions this week. There were wet sponges thrown, balls dodged, house points earned and plenty of healthy competition. Up next, the House Captains will be travelling to Seria to host what will be their last event this academic year. I am sure the entire ISB community will join me in thanking and congratulating Eloise, Liam, Noah, Amani, Princess Muneerah, Leanné, Eshlee and Ezra for doing such a fantastic job. 👏👏
Official handover to the next cohort of House Captains will take place during a special event on Friday 1st July. We can't wait to see what the next group achieve together...
Also on Friday 1st July, we will be hosting a live eSports event and live rock gig to celebrate our fastest TT Rock Stars. Invites have been sent out to the top 50 competitors and we look forward to watching them battle it out to be champion of champions this year.
Congratulations also to all Year 3 to Year 6 students who took part in the Sports Day events today. We managed to dodge the rain and it was wonderful to see so much colour and energy on display. I wonder how the competitions today will impact on the overall House Point results for this year.....?
Coming up on Wednesday 29th June, all Primary students will make a transition visit to their new class and spend time with their new teacher for August 2022. We know that this is an important aspect of our carefully planned transition programme. Year 6 students will be spending two full days on their transition to Secondary and we are excited to hear all about their new adventures as they progress to the next stage in their eduction journey. For most students, Wednesday next week will be a great opportunity to meet their new teacher in person. However, as we are an international school and welcome new staff each year, some classes will not yet be able to meet their new teacher in person. Where this is the case, we have posted a special welcome video to Seesaw. On the transition day, we will be posting a class photo to Seesaw so that conversations about school can have a focus over the long end of year break.
In August, Amy Edwards will be joining the PreK and Kindy team, David Waite will be joining Year 1, Emily Holmes will join Year 2, Alex Poad will join Year 3, Dave Edwards will join Year 5, Paul Hick and Gemma Smith will join Year 6 and Sharon Jusay will join the Primary Music department.
In addition to the new teachers joining the ISB family in August, we are delighted to formally welcome Rob Crook, who will be joining as ISB Primary Deputy Head. Mr Crook has sent a welcome video to introduce himself and we are all looking forward to his arrival in Brunei.
Rob has worked as a teacher and a leader in three Chinese cities, Poland and in the La Côte region of Switzerland. He teaches students to find links in their learning and enjoys using Visible Thinking techniques to achieve this, particularly in Maths and Humanities. Fairness is a value that Rob applies to his teaching and leadership activity and this has led to a belief in inclusivity within education.
I know that you will all join me in welcoming our new teachers and school leaders to the ISB family.
It is a very busy time as the end of year fast approaches. As always, I thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via Seesaw.
Mr Michael Everett | Head of Primary
