Strong Foundations, Bright Futures.
Today we had the immense pleasure of celebrating our Year 6 Ceremony, a special moment that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. It is a proud milestone for us in Primary, as we pass on each and every student to Secondary education, knowing with absolute confidence that they will go on to achieve incredible things in the years ahead.
The potential in the ISB Theatre this morning was truly unlimited. We saw a group of young people, confident, capable, and kind, ready to take on the world. Independent learners who, step by step, have grown through their time in Primary and are now prepared to begin shaping their future. We can’t wait to see how they go on to change the world...
Our core mission in Primary has always been to provide students with the most solid foundation possible, across academics, the arts, physical development, and personal wellbeing. We focus on deep conceptual understanding within a broad and balanced curriculum, knowing that a strong start enables students to later specialise, explore passions, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
In Maths, we develop not just fluency, but flexible thinking and strong number sense that forms the backbone of future problem-solving. In English, we build confident communicators, thoughtful readers, and creative writers who can express themselves with clarity and purpose. In Science, we nurture curiosity, encouraging students to ask big questions and seek evidence-based answers about the world around them.
But it doesn’t stop there. On stage, our students learn to perform, present, and express themselves. In PE and sport, they develop resilience, teamwork, and a drive to excel through competition and personal bests. Through every subject, we cultivate character, creativity, and a love for learning.
Above all else, we believe that children learn best through joy and wonder. Whether it's the joy of mastering a new skill, the excitement of a discovery in class, or simply sharing a moment of fun with friends, learning must be joyful.
And none of this starts in Year 6. The building blocks are laid from the moment a child first walks through the doors of Pre Kindy. Today’s celebration is the culmination of years of carefully planned teaching and the passion of a dedicated, knowledgeable staff team who understand what it takes to give every child the very best possible start.
To our Year 6 families, thank you for the trust and support you've shown along the way. It has been a privilege to be part of your child’s journey.
Art with Impact: Year 5 Exhibition Now Open
Also this week, we are proud to shine a spotlight on our talented Year 5 students, whose art exhibition is currently on display at Hart Living. Inspired by tribal themes and traditional printmaking techniques, the students have created an impressive collection of both displayed artworks and wearable pieces. The creativity, care, and cultural curiosity behind each item is truly remarkable. The exhibition is open to the public and will remain in place until Saturday, well worth a visit if you’re in the area. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Year 5 team of staff and students for their incredible efforts, and to the many parents who joined us for the opening event in support of our young artists.
Who Will Lead the Way?
This week, the Primary House Captain voting process is officially underway. Students from across the school have been reading the published candidate profiles and are now casting their votes to decide who will represent their House for the year ahead. It’s been fantastic to see so many thoughtful and passionate applications, with students sharing their ideas for how they would lead, support others, and build House spirit. We’re excited to see the results and know that, whoever is elected, our Houses will be in great hands.
Full Speed Ahead
It’s been another incredibly busy and joyful week across the Primary School. From the triumph of the Year 1 concert to the excitement of the Year 3 sleepover, there’s been a real buzz of activity throughout. Our students have also been out and about on external trips, making the most of every learning opportunity beyond the classroom. And the excitement continues, early next week we look forward to a special visit from some circus performers, the finals of the Upper Years Talent Show, our final House Games event of the year, and more fantastic music concerts. There’s no slowing down just yet, but what an amazing way to end the year.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support during this busy but very special time of year. If you have any questions about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to message in Seesaw.
