Head of Primary Message Week 20

A Truly Busy Friday Ahead

Looking ahead to next week, Friday 13th February is set to be an incredibly vibrant and high-energy day on campus as we bring together two of our most anticipated events. We will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a variety of performances throughout the morning, and we are looking forward to welcoming the parents of those students performing into school to share in the occasion.

In addition to our cultural celebrations, Friday 13th also features the live finals of our Year 3 to Year 6 House Talent Show. It promises to be a fantastic showcase of our students' creativity and house pride, and I know the children are eager to see who will take home the points for their respective houses.

Chinese New Year Dress

To mark our Chinese New Year celebrations, ISB will be holding a whole-school non-uniform day on Friday 13th February. All students are encouraged to wear red attire or traditional Chinese dress. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Parent Teacher Consultations & Class Photos

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the parents and guardians who have signed up for our upcoming Parent Teacher Consultations. These meetings are a vital part of our home-school partnership, and we very much look forward to hosting you on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Please also look out for our class photo sessions, which are scheduled for the 11th and 12th of February, as well as the 4th of March. Specific dates for each class will be shared in a Seesaw, so please do check your notifications to ensure you have the correct timing for your child.

Please also note that there will be no ECAs on Tuesday and Wednesday next week as the Parent Teacher Consultations take place.

Preparing for the Month of Ramadhan

As we move closer to the month of Ramadhan (three weeks of which are during term time), we are making careful preparations to support our students. Regarding fasting, we take our lead each day from the individual students themselves and make no presumptions about whether they are fasting or not. We recognise that families make different arrangements during the fasting month, and we know these can often change on a day-to-day basis.

To ensure we provide the best possible care, fasting pupils will be allocated quiet, shaded outdoor spaces as well as dedicated indoor spaces during break and lunchtimes, and they will be exempt from strenuous activities. As part of our usual support, we also offer the option of an earlier finish for students during Ramadhan. To ensure everyone is in the right place at the right time, please use the form link provided in today's Seesaw message to indicate your preference for each child. Please note that our usual Friday timings will remain the same throughout this period. Next week, Heads of the respective Year Groups will follow up with specific information about how an earlier finish will impact to ensure parents are fully informed.

ECAs during Ramadhan

Our intention is for our Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) programme to continue where it makes practical sense to do so during the three weeks of Ramadhan in school. However, we want to ensure all students are safely supervised while on campus. A link with the updated schedule and further details has been shared via Seesaw for your reference.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

If you have any questions about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to message in Seesaw.
