Wow! What a spectacular way to end the week. We now have our new House Captains for the academic year 2023/24. Congratulations to Sam, Jai, Salma, Minaal, Livvy, Annie, Hoy Lam and Hana. I know that you will do us all proud and will make great House Captains.
A special thank you to Athena, Ayden, Jerrick, Luci, Mahekan, Maya, Theo and Pamela who handed over the reins. This year, they have been tremendous student leaders.

The top 50 TT Rock Stars for this year all competed on the Piano Steps for ultimate glory and we now also know who our fasted TT Rock Star 🎸 🤩 is for this year. Congratulations to Roohan on his record-beating performances this year, answering more than 200 questions in 60 seconds! That's equivalent to one question every 0.35 seconds, could you beat Roohan's record?
This week, we hosted a fantastic parent workshop on reading. Mrs Hawkins shared lots of information and practical tips as well as an overview of your child's reading journey as they progress through ISB. We also shared the latest research and evidence around the importance of reading and some strategies parents can use at home to help support and promote a love of reading. Feedback after the workshop was really positive and we will be sharing all the materials on the Primary Newsfeed in the coming days.
ISB now has a few less students, with Year 13 leaving for their next adventures. The parade through school was a fitting celebration of their achievements, some of them having been at ISB since Pre Kindy. I know that they will be phenomenal ambassadors for the ISB family as they progress into further education and the world of work. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their send off (especially the mascot) and their pranks provided an entertaining start to the day on Thursday. It seems like a long way off, but the end of school will come round sooner than you can imagine. For this reason, it is so important to enjoy every experience on offer. We really do have an excellent school community.
Pre Kindy have been out and about this week, with a visit to Twinkle. I think the photos below best demonstrate just how awesome the day was! 💤 😴 💤
We are looking forward to hosting Year 1 to Year 6 parents on Friday 2nd June for the Primary Music concerts. All the timings are below, and the students are all very excited about showcasing their talents.

A reminder that school will be closed on Monday 29th May to Wednesday 31st May, reopening on Thursday 1st June for the final half term of the school year. Please note there will be no ECAs next week (Monday 29 May - Saturday 3 June). This is due to the half-term break next week. After the half-term break, ECAs will continue from Monday 5 June and run for 4 weeks until Saturday 1 July.
This week, Pre Kindy got very excited when the school mascot came to visit, Kindy have been hula hooping and drumming, Reception have been writing about a picture and building tall towers, Year 1 have been writing about the parts of a plant and continue to perfect their phonics knowledge, Year 2 have been finding fractions and creating bar charts, Year 3 have been making a 3D dinosaur timeline, Year 4 have been writing adverts and searching for spiders, Year 5 have been converting decimals and percentages and Year 6 have been discovering electrical circuits and recording data.
Have a restful extended weekend.
