Head of Primary Message Week 25

This week, it has been Book Week 📚 and we have put together a very special page with all the latest photos and updates. More content will be added as we curate the photos and videos. To access the Book Week page, click below 👇👇 🤩

The gallery of photos from our special Book Week dress up day is an incredible celebration of the joy of reading and books. We had book characters, super heroes, animals, engines, golden tickets, princesses, explorers, mermaids, authors, pirates and cartoon creatures. Quite a sight to behold. We have also included photos from the Year 5 poetry workshop hosted by Tina Afiqah, a local Bruneian author and ISB alumni.

We are extremely lucky to have our very own published author too! Gaby Chin, author of Simpang 424 has also been working with students across Primary and signed copies of her book were awarded as prizes for 'best dressed' characters.

ISB also hosted the Brunei Junior Sports League (BJSL) this week. A festival of football and some impressive skills on display. Congratulations to all who played and competed. 👏 ⚽️

Year 3 hosted a very special open morning and museum tour this week. Parents were invited to join the celebrations which included mummified tomatoes in their own sarcophagus, pyramid building, costumes, Egyptian Hieroglyphs and archeology. A wonderful celebration of learning.

We have also shared pictures of Year 6 making their very own pizza this week here on the Primary Newsfeed. They successfully made all the ingredients from scratch and cooked up a storm. Students have been researching different recipes in class, creating their own set of instructions to make the best pizza. A great way to bring leaning to life!

There are no ECAs next week. However, there is still plenty going on. Mr Davidson and the FOBISIA Team will be hosting two film events. Full details have been sent out in Seesaw, alongside a registration form for all students in Year 1 to Year 6. There is also our Stories by the Fire 🔥 event taking place on Tuesday 21st March at 6:45pm (doors open at 6:15pm). This will be a great opportunity to share stories and a song by the fire, under the light of the stars.

A special thank you to the Pre Kindy team for hosting a parent information session on healthy eating and lunch box nutrition. It was fascinating to learn just how much sugar is hidden away in some of our children's favourite snacks and drinks. It was a real eye opener and a great opportunity for parents to get together and discuss.

This week Pre Kindy have been threading pasta, Kindy have been writing in the sand, Reception have been reading aloud, Year 1 have been using a story mountain to retell 3 Billy Goats Gruff, Year 2 have been building a nest of treasure, Year 3 hosted a museum visit, Year 4 have created radial art, Year 5 have been writing poetry and Year 6 have been working with formulas in Maths.

The Primary Student Council are currently running a clothing collection, with donations being sent to a local Mosque for distribution. Thank you for all the donations so far, the collection will continue throughout next week in the Primary Office.

As we are approaching the month of Ramadan, there will be some alternative arrangements, including the option for fasting students to leave school at lunch time. Specific information will be sent out next week through Seesaw.
