⏰ Save the date
I would like to begin this week’s message with a very special invitation for all families.
👏 Celebration of Learning
🗓️ Friday 7th November
🕢 7:30am – 8:45am
We would like to invite you to join us for our Celebration of Learning. Parents are warmly welcome to visit classrooms from 7:30am onwards and spend time with your children as they share a variety of specially designed learning experiences across different subjects and activities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see learning in action and celebrate the progress your children have made.
Further details will be shared by Heads of Year during the week, but for now, please add this event to your diary, we look forward to hosting you next Friday morning. Please note that times will vary for Pre Kindy and Kindy.
🔢 Barvember is back!
Over the last few years, we’ve enjoyed the challenge and creativity of Barvember, and it’s back again at ISB Primary.
Throughout November, students from Year 1 and up will take part in daily Maths challenges designed around bar modelling, a powerful visual tool that helps children understand and solve complex problems.
Each day, a new set of challenges (with answers) will be posted in the House Folders on Seesaw. Questions increase in difficulty, with Question 1 suited to our youngest learners and Question 4 stretching those in Years 5 and 6.
This is optional home learning and a brilliant opportunity for children to teach parents how they solve problems in school. You can post your family’s answers directly back to Seesaw. More details to follow on Monday....
You can also access previous years’ challenges and video explanations via the link below, just click anywhere on the image.
Good luck, and enjoy Barvember!
🌟 Keep those entries coming
A reminder for Years 1–6 that the Talent Show activity is also available in the House Folders on Seesaw (students must log in using their student account).
Entries so far have been fantastic, and we can’t wait to see even more creativity and talent on display, so please keep them coming.
🏫 Around the school
It has been another incredible couple of weeks of learning across Primary, Year 6 students appeared live on TV, what an experience, Year 5 have been mastering cubed numbers in Maths, Year 4 explored how water is recycled through the water cycle, Year 3 have been practising bar modelling, perfect timing for Barvember, Year 2 have been creating beautiful charcoal sketches, Year 1 revisited cardinal directions, building their own compasses and exploring outdoors, Reception students have been writing and drawing on the windows, bringing creativity to every corner, Kindy and Pre-Kindy welcomed a special visiting author, who shared stories about the beauty and benefits of local fauna.
If you have any questions about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to message in Seesaw.
