Head of Primary Message Week 12

Final preparations are underway for International Day. Friday 24th November will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the international community at ISB. We have put together a detailed itinerary for the day to ensure everyone has the opportunity to maximise their experience.

A final reminder also to complete the short online form to let us know your preferences for the day. It is important that we receive a response from each family to enable us to plan accordingly and ensure everyone has a memorable day.

A sea of colour and artist-inspired outfits today across campus. Our winner of the best outfit just had to be Hani-Lisa from Yr5. Not only did she look amazing, but she managed to keep it on all day. Now that's a sacrifice for art!

As well as Hani, we also had numerous coloured pencils, artists with a missing ear, plenty of paint being splashed about and a plethora of favourite colours on show. Well done to all involved from Pre Kindy through to IB in Secondary.

It's been a busy week... 🤩

We were delighted to invite parents of Year 6 students into the ISB Theatre this week to share a presentation for a new residential camp planned for February in Malaysia. Mr Hick and Mr Bridges shared some exciting plans with both parents and students. The expedition will involve a flight to Kota Kinabalu, three nights away from home, white water rafting, high roles, a night under the stars, zip lines, abseiling, team-building activities, and an opportunity for a completely screen-free experience with friends. Full details have been shared in Seesaw for all Year 6 families.

To consolidate their learning of the year group text, The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, this week Year 6 have been out into the jungle at the Berakas Garison where they had the opportunity to take part in jungle survival activities as well as making fires and shelter. Students (and some brave staff) also tried some 'jungle delicacies'. 🤢 🤢

Year 2 students have also been on an adventure this week, visiting the Temburong Bridge, the Eco Corridor and Mentiri Besar Park. No jungle food on offer, but I know they had a great time.

Still to come this term, Pre Kindy will be visiting the fantastic ArnoZoey Wonderland, Kindy will be making pizzas at Tasconi Pizza, Reception will be visiting I Am Food Farm, Year 3 will be visiting Penanjong Camp, Year 4 will be visiting the Legislative Council, and Year 6 will be visiting the Brunei Energy Hub.

Also this week, Pre Kindy went on a bus ride, Kindy have cooked scrambled eggs, Reception have painted all over the floor, Year 1 have been inspired by Salvador Dali, Year 2 have been using base 10 to work out addition questions, Year 3 have been calculating hundreds, tens and ones, Year 4 have been experimenting outdoors, Year 5 have been plotting coordinates and Year 6 have published their very own news reports with the help of a green screen.

Congratulations to all those who continue to take part in Barvember. I have published the questions and answer videos for Day 1 to Day 13 on the Primary Newsfeed. We have now awarded well in excess of 1,100 House Points for Barvember entries, including many who have successfully completed the tricky question 5. 👏 👏
