Head of Primary Message Week 1

The first week of school always flies by in a flash, remembering just how early the alarm clock needs to be set for, organising everything for the day ahead, establishing new routines and returning to familiar ones. This year is no different and I hope children have returned each day exhausted but excited about the next day of school.

Welcome to all our new students who have joined us this week, I know that you will love ISB. In addition, we have also welcomed a number of new staff. If you haven't said hello already, you can find out more here.

We have seen wonderful attitudes to school and learning this week, children have been an absolute credit to their families and I would like to thank the ISB community for preparing each student so well.

Our youngest learners in Early Years have started their learning journey with great enthusiasm, exploring the indoor and outdoor provision, establishing new friendships, playing games, driving busses, creating works of art, sharing stories, composing music, caring for 'babies', reading, calculating, serving tea, rolling, squashing, cutting and magnifying. We have posted a special gallery to the Primary Newsfeed to showcase their week. Check it out here.

Year 1 have been subtilising in their Maths lessons and creating repeating patterns as well as solving puzzles. Year 2 have been building numbers to 20, Year 3 have been designing colourful masterpieces and Year 4 have been creative with Maths resources.

Year 5 have been generating curiosity, excitement and enthusiasm around their learning journey - 'What's Out There?'. They experimented with gravity and forces, began to explore the solar system and also got their hands dirty making some yummy space cakes! Check out the photos here. Year 6 have been working with numbers up to 10 million as well as penning a recount of their school holidays.

Special congratulations to Penyu House who have already opened a commanding lead in the House Point competition this year.

Within such a busy and energetic school, keeping up-to-date can be tricky. We have worked hard to streamline all communications and ensure everything is now available through Seesaw. With your Family account, you will be able to access everything you need within a few clicks and you will be notified of any messages sent home. A full overview has been published here.

Within Seesaw, on the pinned note at the top of each Journal, there is also a link to the calendar so that you can plan ahead: https://www.isbprimarynewsfeed.com/whatson

If you require any help accessing your Seesaw Family account, please do not hesitate to contact the Primary Office.

Have a restful weekend and we can't wait to begin week 2.
