Yet another fantastic week at ISB Seria! Pupils in Year 1 to Year 6 have been enjoying the World Book Week activities on Seesaw and the ‘live reading’ sessions on Zoom. A special ‘Thank You!’ to Mr. Davies, our Literacy lead teacher, for creating the activities and also coordinating a Masked Reader competition during the Primary Zoom Assembly. The video (and QR code to enter the competition) can be found – HERE.
This week, Pre-Kindy and Kindy pupils have been working with increasing confidence and independence in all their tasks. I would like to congratulate the Pre-Kindy and Kindy staff for all their continued efforts and I would like to thank parents for their amazing feedback regarding the pupils’ progress since returning back on campus.
Reception pupils have enjoyed listening to stories by a ‘secret reader’. They have also been busy building a ‘reading den’ and have taken part in a Guess that Story quiz. Year 1 have had fun creating their own book covers and certainly enjoyed the story Room on the Broom by their secret reader.
The pupils in Year 2 have been busy writing book reviews, listening to creative stories and also building luxury reading dens. Year 3 completed the World Book Day quiz and wrote book blurbs in addition to illustrating book covers.
Year 4 have been studying decimals in Maths and completing the ‘Extreme Reading Challenge’. They have begun a new book (Charlotte’s Web) and enjoyed two sessions with their Year 2 reading buddies to share some stories. Years 5 and 6 have focused on Roald Dahl stories and compared the books against the movies. In Maths, the talented Year 5 and 6 pupils have also been comparing decimals and fractions.
I am sure you will agree, another busy week.
We are looking to organise another ‘Community Event’ across both Bandar and Seria campuses for the whole family soon. More details to follow.
Please enjoy the weekend and stay safe.
Mr. Rick Smith
Head of Seria Campus
