Head of Seria Campus Message

It has been another busy week at ISB Seria.

The Year 6 pupils, with Mr. Wilson and Mr. Ramsden, attended the Graduation rehearsals on Thursday at ISB Bandar and took part in the Ceremony today (Friday 17th June) in front of staff, parents and the wider ISB community, including some VVIP special guests. Our pupils did a fantastic job and made us all proud. Well done Year 6 pupils and staff.

This week we also had a visit from the ‘Creepy Crawlies’ team and the ‘Bird’ team. The pictures below are just some of the highlights from their visits this week. Thank you to Mrs. McCready and Teacher Chio for organising this special opportunity for all our pupils.

Pre-Kindy have engaged in several activities promoting the development of gross and fine motor skills this week. The children had to run, jump, crawl and balance as part of the obstacle course. They also enjoyed ‘finger gym’ to develop their fine motor skills. Kindy children have had a wonderful week exploring and learning about endangered animals. They read non-fiction books to find out why they are endangered and how we can help them. During the week, they learnt to create our favourite endangered animal craft by using various materials; writing the names of favourite animals too! In phonics, They learnt to distinguish between different vocal sounds and to begin oral blending and segmenting. Reception class have been exploring the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and made their very own, delicious gingerbread biscuits. They have been learning about quantities using the vocabulary ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ in maths. Well done, Reception!

Year 1 have been learning about the difference between non-fiction and fiction books. The children also started collecting facts about whales. In Maths, they have been working on comparing numbers and had fun creating their own ‘Can you guess my number?’ game. Year 2 have been writing letters from Flat Stanley. They have looked at a checklist and made sure they have included everything we need to using the ‘letter format’. In Maths, Year 2 have been answering word problems related to time. Then they finished off the week by making kites which Flat Stanley could use to fly high in the sky.

Year 3 have enjoyed making their own dragon eyes out of clay this week and using their own reptile encounter to focus on recreating scales and horns to inspire their writing. They also used angle eaters to investigate right, acute and obtuse angles. Year 4 have finished their chocolate narrative poem week topic. They moved on to position and direction in mathematics. They studied the artwork of Andy Warhol and looked at the life of a Cocoa bean farmer and his family from Ghana. Year 5 and 6 children have been working on the book Cole's Kingdom and using their comprehension skills to answer questions on the text. In Maths they have been adding and subtracting decimal numbers.
