Head of Seria Campus Message

WE ARE BACK AND WHAT A WEEK!

It was a genuine pleasure to welcome pupils, across ISB Seria, back on campus on Monday for face-to-face teaching. Pupils, parents and staff were all smiling under their masks. For those pupils unable to join us this week, we do hope you have been enjoying the ‘Home Learning’ activities on Seesaw.

The work completed at the end of Term 2 by parents (surveys) and staff (preparation) has ensured a very smooth return to campus where everyone is healthy and safe. We appreciate that the ‘surprise’ of returning to full-time school, after 10 months, has been tricky for some pupils. However, the ISB community is working hard together to make sure ‘normal school’ returns as quickly and safely as possible.

The staff have written a few short sentences about the wonderful week. Please enjoy the comments below:

“Well done Pre-Kindy class for an amazing first week back! We had so much fun being back at school, doing creative work and making friendships.” – Teacher Julia (Pre-Kindy)

“Well done Kindy class for a great week. We had so much fun making our colourful rainbow collage.” – Teacher Chio (Kindy)

“Well done Reception class for a fabulous first week back! It has been wonderful to see the children exploring their new environment and interacting with their friends.” – Mrs. Wilson (Rec)

“A great first week back to school Year 1! We enjoyed playing with our friends and created our own sun bears after learning fun facts about them.” – Teacher MJ (Year 1)

“Awesome week sea turtles and welcome back. It’s been so busy with lots of making and we have enjoyed being with our friends again.” – Mrs. Tomlin (Year 2)

“So wonderful to have Kingfishers back to school this week, we followed instructions to make our own bird feeders and learnt more about having a growth mindset!” -Mrs. McCready (Year 3)

“Year 4 have started our Chocolate project. We have learnt about sources of light and writing persuasive adverts. We have studied time and the 24-hour clock in maths.” – Mr. Davies (Year 4)

“A great first week for Year 5 and 6. We have all signed into our Microsoft accounts with our new passwords and begun using Sketchup to design housing. We have used PowerPoint to begin our presentations and learnt that we can work collaboratively on one document. In Math's we used manipulatives to help with our fraction work. Our social time has been very important and we have enjoyed our time together in school.” – Mr. Wilson (Year 5/6)

Term 3 has started well and promises to be a busy and productive few months for everyone. We are looking forward to reintroducing a wide variety of ECAs in the very near future. We are introducing more MFL lessons per week after Ramadhan with additional Malay and Mandarin teachers. We are planning projects for Bandar and Seria pupils to work together on both sites. We are making links with the local community to put on special events. We are expanding our Music and Sports curriculum and improving whole school resources. We will be celebrating the Year 6 Graduation. We will be welcoming new International teachers to the staff for next year. We will be advertising places at ISB Seria for Pre-Kindy and Year 7 starting August 2022.

The term has only just begun.

Have a wonderful, restful weekend.

Mr. Rick Smith
