International Baccalaureate (IB)

The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968.

Established in 1968, the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) was the first programme offered by the IB is taught to students aged 16-19.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities, and evidence suggests that higher rates of DP students go on to university and higher education study than non-IB students.

IB graduates were also very positive about their DP learning experiences as preparation for higher education—specifically, they felt that the DP had prepared them to engage in classroom discussions and group work, to develop global perspectives and to communicate effectively (Lee et al 2017).
